Our Story
The Hotel Village was founded in 1969 by the Rosset family and has its roots in Villair di Quart, in the Aosta Valley. Designed by architect Canavese, the project represented one of the very first examples of a “diffused hotel” in Italy — a pioneering vision that combined Alpine traditions with modern, independent hospitality.
The idea of creating ten chalets set amidst nature alongside a central building with five rooms stemmed from the desire to offer travellers an authentic experience, respectful of nature and the tranquillity of the surroundings. In the 1970s, the area around the hotel was still surrounded only by meadows and fields and offered an atmosphere of absolute peace.
Within the hotel, the gastronomic restaurant Le Bourricot Fleury was inaugurated. Its name paid tribute to the family’s history: at the old Villair farm, a little donkey pulled a small cart filled with flowers, a cherished memory that became the restaurant’s symbol.
The restaurant was renowned for its Aosta Valley cuisine and its large open grill, and was popular with both hotel guests and passing travellers.
Among the distinctive features of those years was the large red fireplace built in front of the hotel. Each evening it was lit as a ritual, and its flame, clearly visible from the road, attracted passers-by. The fireplace still stands today, a tangible reminder of the hotel’s origins.
The Saint-Roch distillery, owned by the Levi/Rosset family was an integral part of the hotel’s life. Guests could visit it in the nearby building and discover the production of liqueurs and local specialties up close, a connection that remained closely tied to the hotel for many years.
